How to play Hive
Hive is a daily letter game built from seven letters arranged around one centre letter. You make as many words as you can, and every word has to use the centre letter. Longer words score more, and a word that uses all seven letters is a pangram worth a big bonus. Your total carries you up a ladder of eight ranks, from Wanderer to Hive Mind, and Hive Mind means you found every word.
How to play
- Make words of at least four letters from the seven shown.
- Every word must include the centre letter — a word without it does not count.
- Letters may be reused as often as you like within a single word.
- Tap the letters or type them and press Enter to submit. Shuffle rearranges the outer letters to give you a fresh view.
- A word using all seven letters is a pangram and scores a large bonus.
Tips & strategy
- Start by finding any four-letter word to get on the board, then look for longer stretches of the same letters.
- Hunt the pangram early while your eyes are fresh: check whether the seven letters suggest a common prefix or suffix.
- Work through suffixes systematically — -ing, -ed, -er, -ely — against each stem you have already found.
- Shuffle when you stall. Rearranging the outer letters genuinely helps you see combinations you were reading past.
- Hive puzzles never use the letter S, so there are no -s plurals to find. A different tense or another form of a word you already found is often valid, so try those before moving on.
- In the daily, Hints show how many words are left for each first letter and length, never the words themselves. Using them still counts the day, and your result and share say “with hints”.
Accessibility
Letters can be typed on a physical keyboard as well as tapped, your found words are a readable list, the Hints are a plain list of letters and counts, and your rank and score are always given as text.
